PETERSEN MEDIA: Tanner Carrick continues to show a ton of car speed on a weekly basis to open 2021, however his weekend in Hanford, CA would be riddled with its share of ups and downs.
“We really had good speed both nights,” Tanner Carrick said. “Friday night we got pushed off the track in our heat race and relegated us to the ‘B’, and on Saturday night they didn’t get our time recorded in time trials, and when they gave me a lap the track had changed a ton from when my group when out.”
Kicking the weekend off on Friday night, Carrick timed his CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed No. 83T machine in fastest in his qualifying group.
On a very fast Keller Auto Speedway surface, Carrick would find himself in a transfer position in heat race action until he was pushed off the racing surface. Losing a ton of momentum, Carrick would be unable to get back into a transfer and would be forced into one of the twin semis.
Lining up on the pole of his ‘B’, Carrick would race his way to the win and transfer into the feature event where he took the green flag from the 22nd starting position.
The track would stay really fast all night long, making it tough to make up any ground from the back of the pack. Able to pick up a few spots in the feature, Carrick would close out the opening night feature event with a 19th place finish.
Saturday night got off to a bit of a tricky start for the Lincoln, CA driver. After timing and scoring was unable to pick his laps up during his qualifying session, Carrick would return to the speedway at the tail end of the session to lay down his laps.
On significantly different conditions then when he initially went out, Carrick timed in seventh fastest in time trials.
Lining up seventh in his heat race with only the Top-Three finishers transferring directly into the feature, Carrick would have his elbows up as a couple of swift moves put him in third where he would go on to finish.
Gridding the field from the 20th starting position on this night, Carrick would again pick up a handful of positions over the course of the feature as he capped his weekend off with a 15th place finish.
“It was a tough weekend with the results we had, but I feel good about our car and am excited to get to Ocean Speedway on Friday night and Placerville Speedway on Saturday.”
Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support.
BY THE NUMBERS: Starts: 6, Wins: 0, Top 5’s: 3, Top 10’s: 4
