PETERSEN MEDIA: Spending the Memorial Day Weekend racing in Chico, CA and Marysville, CA, Tanner Carrick pocketed a third-place finish during the Silver Dollar Fair Race on Saturday night.
“We had a good weekend, and probably should have been on the podium both nights, but a restart at Marysville Raceway on Sunday didn’t go our way and I lost a few positions,” Tanner Carrick said.
Opening the weekend up on Saturday at the Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, CA, Carrick timed the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed No. 83T in second fastest in his qualifying flight with 32 cars checked into the pit area.
Lining up in the second row of his heat race, the Lincoln, CA driver was able to gain a spot as he finished third which locked him into the nightly redraw. Pulling the five, Carrick was set for the green flag from the inside of the third row.
The start of the race was slowed by a pair of incidents, but when the green was finally able to fly, Carrick settled into fifth. Running inside the Top-5 for the first half of the race, Carrick was able to make some moves as heavy traffic entered the equation.
Racing into fourth on the 15th lap, Carrick chased after Landon Henry and Andy Forsberg, and was able to snatch the final spot on the podium on the 25th lap, as he closed the night out with a third-place finish.
Heading to Marysville, CA on Sunday night to battle with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour, Carrick got off to another great start as he qualified third quickest amongst the 27 cars that were packed into the pit area.
Going from fourth to second in his heat race, Carrick moved into the Dash where his second-place finish put him on the front row of the feature event alongside Colby Copeland.
Settling into second as the race came to life, Carrick continued to stalk Copeland despite a few early stoppages slowing the pace of the race. Falling back to third on a lap 16 restart, Carrick slipped back to sixth amidst a crazy restart on the 18th lap.
Back in sixth, Carrick was unable to make up his lost ground as he held the spot for the final laps, and closed the night out with a sixth-place finish.
Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, D.R. Horton, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Hanson Truss, TC Guide Service, Eddie’s Lincoln Auto Body, Simpson Strong-Tie, A&A Concrete Supply, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support.
