Tanner Carrick Works Way to 9th Place Finish at Stockton Dirt Track

PETERSEN MEDIA: Getting back to his family Sprint Car after an extended stay in the Midwest to run Midgets, Tanner Carrick would over come early issues on Saturday night at work his way to a ninth place finish in the Jimmy Sills Classic feature event.

“Saturday night went alright for us,” Tanner Carrick said. “We had issues in our first heat race, and it put us behind the eight ball in the feature on a track that was pretty tough to pass on.”

With a two-heat format in play on Saturday night, Carrick would line his CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed No. 83T machine up in the fourth row for his first heat as he would look to rack up points coming from the back.

Getting off to a nice start, issues would arise on his TCR entry, and he would pull into the infield and not finish his heat.

Credited with an eighth place finish in his heat, Carrick’s crew would work hard to make repairs for the second heat, and would be successful. Lining up in the second row of his second heat, Carrick would go to work on the slick Stockton Dirt Track surface where a fourth place finish would ultimately see him grid the field from the 14th starting position to start the 35-lap feature event.

Making a trip to the work area during an early caution, Carrick would patiently work his way around Stockton Dirt Track, as a light field didn’t allow for any traffic. Using a slew of restarts to his advantage, Carrick would climb into the Top-10 before capping the night off with a ninth place finish.

“It was nice to get back in the sprint car and race back home,” Carrick said. “Tough to have issues during a draw show, but it was good to fight and come away with a Top-10. Thanks to my family and everyone that helped out on Saturday.”

Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, Arai, and Spike Chassis for their support.

2019 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts: 9, Wins: 1, Top 5’s: 1, Top 10’s: 2

ON TAP: Carrick will stick around the Golden State as he is scheduled to compete at Placerville Speedway on Saturday night.
