PETERSEN MEDIA: Saturday night at Placerville Speedway, Tanner Carrick showed patience as he slow rolled the bottom in the closing laps, and made his race winning move in turns three and four coming to the checkered flag in thrilling fashion.
“Man, I can’t thank my guys enough for giving me a fast car,” Tanner Carrick said. “Everyone was so good on the top; I knew I had to try something if I was going to win. We were in traffic, and I saw cars on the bottom keeping up with us, so I figured if they could, I could, and it worked out.”
Saturday night at Placerville Speedway, Carrick would get off to a quick start as he timed the CVC/Cemex/Arai backed No 83T machine in fourth fastest in qualifying time trials.
Lining up fourth in his heat race, the Lincoln, CA pilot raced to a second-place finish in his heat race and garnered a position in the all-important re-draw.
Pulling the five pill, Carrick would take the green flag from the inside of the third row for the 25-lap feature event. With the top proving to be the dominant lane at the quarter mile bullring on this night, Carrick would plant his right rear on the cushion as he battled inside the Top-5.
Getting up into second early, Carrick would slip back to third just before the race’s halfway point. Continuing to work the top, Carrick would make the decision to move to the bottom with just five laps left the feature.
Getting a run on second running Joel Myers, Jr, and race long leader, Jodie Robinson, Carrick looked to make his move for the lead only to the see the yellow flag fly setting up a green, white, checkered finish.
When the race came back to life, Myers would bobble in front of him and he would take the second spot as he moved back to the bottom and stalked Robinson. Getting along side of her, Robinson would power around him and take the white flag as the leader.
Riding the bottom through one and two, Carrick would hit the bottom perfectly entering turn three and was able to slide up in front of Robinson exiting turn four and beat her to the checkered flag to take home his third feature event win of the season.
Carrick was also in action on Friday night at Ocean Speedway where he would also time in fourth fastest in time trials, before picking up a second-place finish in his heat race.
Finishing fourth in the Dash, Carrick would go on to pick up a fourth-place finish in the 30-lap feature event.
“It was a great weekend, and I am looking forward to a busy weekend this week,” Carrick said. “Thanks to everyone who makes this all possible.”
Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support.
