Tanner Carrick Soares to Placerville Speedway Win

PETERSEN MEDIA: Having tumultuous luck at Placerville Speedway so far in 2023, Tanner Carrick was able to shake that off on Saturday night as he soared to his first win of the season at the famed ¼ mile bullring.

“We have had horrible luck at Placerville Speedway this year, and it feels great to finally get this team back in victory lane here,” Tanner Carrick said. “It is one of my favorite track, but for whatever reason we have been able to string wins together in the past and then follow with some horrible luck so hopefully this propels us to more success.”

Endurig engine issues during the 4th of July Spectacular at the track, Carrick was back for business on Saturday night as he opened the night off by timing the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed No. 83T entry in fourth fastest in qualifying time trials.

Lining up in the second row of his heat race, some tight knit action saw him slip back to a fifth place finish with the eight lapper came to a close. Still, locked into the redraw based on his qualifying effort, Carrick drew the ‘two’ and was on the front row of the 25-lap feature event.

On a very slick racing surface, Carrick got the initial jump only to see an early caution bring the part to a pause. Back underway, Carrick was very smooth as he worked the cushion on the ¼ mile bullring and then soon felt pressure from Tony Gomes.

With the duo battling hard for the top spot, Carrick was able to win the battle and ultimately go on to score his first win of the season at the track, and his his third overall for the season.

The Lincoln, CA driver was also in action on Friday night at Watsonville, CA’s Ocean Speedway.

Timing in ninth fastest at Ocean Speedway, Carrick picked up the win in his heat race and followed that up with a fourth place finish in the Dash.

Lining up fourth in the feature event, Carrick struggled a bit on the tricky surface as he fought to keep his spot inside the Top-10. When the dust settled on the 30-lap feature, Carrick closed the night out with an eighth-place finish.

“Friday night we just missed it in the feature, and with how the track was we just kind of struggled,” Carrick said. “Saturday night, we were fast all night, and like I said earlier, happy to get back in victory lane at Placerville Speedway.”

Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Hanson Truss, Eddie’s Lincoln Auto Body, Simpson Strong-Tie, A&A Concrete Supply, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts: 27, Wins: 3, Top 5’s: 15, Top 10’s: 19
