Tanner Carrick Set for Gold Cup After 12th Place Run with High Limit in Placerville, CA

PETERSEN MEDIA: Tanner Carrick was in action on Saturday night with High Limit Racing as the series made their lone visit to Placerville, CA. Picking up a 12^th place finish, Carrick is now set for the 71^st Gold Cup Race of Champions in Chico, CA kicking off tomorrow night with the annual 360ci event.

It was a good way to start this swing with High Limit off,” Tanner Carrick said. “We qualified well, put ourselves in the Dash, but we just couldn’t quite get going forward in the feature.”

With 40 cars packed into the tight confines of Placerville Speedway, Carrick got the night kicked off by timing the CVC/Cemex/CA Waterfowl backed No. 83T entry in fifth fastest in our qualifying flight which placed him on the front row of his heat race.

When the green flag flew on heat race action, Carrick smashed the throttled and powered to the early lead. Out front, the Lincoln, CA driver was able to keep the field at bay as he picked up the win and locked into the all-important Dash.

Lining up in the fourth row of the Dash, Carrick went on to finish eighth which placed him in the fourth row for the 35-lap Gold Rush Classic feature event.

As the green lights flashed, Carrick settled into eighth where he ran for the first handful of laps until he made a move into sixth on the 12^th lap. In a mutli car battle for sixth-seventh-eighth for seven laps, Carrick ended up in eighth when things settled down.

Continuing to run in the Top-10 a couple of cautions near the end of the race did not play out in Carrick’s favor. First falling back to 11^th, a final restart saw the Lincoln, CA driver slip back to 12^th when the checkered flag flew.

“We were just a little off at the end of the race, but overall I thought we were pretty solid,” Carrick said. “Excited for a big week at Chico this weekend. Thanks to all of my guys for their hard work, and my sponsors for all of their continued support of our team.”
