Tanner Carrick Scores Top-10 with Lucas Oil ASCS National Series

PETERSEN MEDIA: Making the trip to Arizona over the weekend, Tanner Carrick kicked his 2020 Sprint Car season off with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour and came away with a Top-10 finish to wrap his weekend up on Saturday.

“The track was extremely slick all weekend long, and it actually allowed us to try some things,” Tanner Carrick said. “We don’t have a ton of laps on anything that slick so I’m pretty happy with the speed we had.”

Friday night saw the Lincoln, CA driver work his way into the feature event after coming from the ‘B’ aboard the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed No. 83T machine.

Lining up 19th on the grid, passing would be at a premium from the back of the pack with rubber going down very early in the opening night of action for the traveling 360 series.

Finishing 20th, Carrick and company would look to better themselves on night number two.

Going from eighth to fourth in his heat race on Saturday, Carrick earned a ton of valuable points as he made his way into a qualifier. Continuing to show speed at Canyon Speedway Park, Carrick would advance from fourth to finish second.

Drawing a front row starting position for the feature event, Carrick would again find himself on a very slick surface. Keeping himself in the hunt as the race came to life, Carrick would find himself battling with the likes of Sam Hafertepe, Jr, Harli White, and Justin Sanders amongst others.

With a very fast car underneath him, the youngster would keep his machine well inside the Top-10 for the duration of the feature event. When the race was complete, Carrick capped the weekend with an eighth-place finish.

“We don’t typically see a surface quite like that, so I am really with happy with the changes that we made and with how everything felt,” Carrick said. “Thanks to all the guys for their hard work all weekend long.”

Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, Arai, and Spike Chassis for their support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts: 2, Wins: 0, Top 5’s: 0, Top 10’s: 1
