Tanner Carrick Scores Second Win of Season with Ocean Speedway Triumph

PETERSEN MEDIA: Tanner Carrick had another very strong weekend that was highlighted by a win at Ocean Speedway on Friday night before finishing fifth at Placerville Speedway on Saturday night.

“After running well last week and Marysville Raceway and Silver Dollar Speedway I knew we had a good package heading into this past weekend,” Tanner Carrick said. “We were good at both Ocean Speedway and Placerville Speedway, and it was good to get the win on Friday.”

Checking in at Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, CA on Friday night, Carrick got off to a quick start as he timed in third fastest in qualifying time trials.

Racing from fourth to second in his heat race, the Lincoln, CA driver was locked into the Dash. Finishing second aboard the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed No. 83T, Carrick was on the front row of the 30-lapper alongside young Caeden Steele.

With Steele leading the opening stanza, Carrick quickly took over the top spot on lap two and began to chase after the rear of the field. While Steele applied pressure for the top spot on occasion, Carrick never faltered.

Despite being challenge a few times, Carrick was not to be denied on this night as he raced his way to the win.

Saturday night, the scene shifted to Placerville Speedway in Placerville, CA where Carrick continued to showcase a fast car as he timed in fifth fastest of the 27 cars entered in the event.

Lining up in the second row of his heat race, Carrick nailed the start and had the lead as he raced into turns one and two and never looked back. The win was vital for Carrick as not only did it lock him into the feature, it also put him in the nightly redraw.

Pulling the two, Carrick found himself on the front row for the second consecutive night as he looked to sweep his two weekend events.

When the race went green, close quarter racing into turns one and two saw contact send Carrick over the edge of the track and lose several positions.

Falling back to seventh, Carrick slowly got rolling the other way on a track that was tough to make up ground on with the bottom groove extremely good. In a race that ended up going non-stop, Carrick moved into sixth on the sixth lap, and used a late move to secure a fifth-place finish.

“We had a great car in the ‘A’, but after we got knocked off the track in the first corner it was hard to make up ground,” Carrick added. “We have strung together a lot of strong runs as of late, and hopefully we can turn those into more wins.”

Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Hanson Truss, Eddie’s Lincoln Auto Body, Simpson Strong-Tie, A&A Concrete Supply, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts: 23, Wins: 2, Top 5’s: 13, Top 10’s: 16
