Tanner Carrick Scores SCCT Top-10 at Placerville Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA: Making his way back to Placerville Speedway on Saturday night to open up the 2023 Sprint Car Challenge Tour slate, Tanner Carrick picked up a Top-10 as he finished seventh against the strong 48-car field.

“We had a great car all night long, I just didn’t do my job at the start of the night, and it put us in a hole all night long,” Tanner Carrick explained.

Finding himself in group for qualifying, as well as for his heat race, Carrick timed ended up four fastest aboard the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed No. 83T. Lining up in the second row of his heat race, Carrick settled into third when the race came to life as he held on to a transfer into the feature event.

By way of his third-place finish in heat race action, Carrick found himself in the sixth row of the 35-lap feature event. When the ‘A’ came to life, Carrick quickly dipped to the low side of the speedway as he looked to race his way to the front.

On the racy surface, Carrick held down the 11th position for the opening 10 stanzas as the track continued to widen out as laps clicked off. Jumping into 9th on the 12th lap, Carrick made a big move to overtake sixth at the race’s halfway point.

Running amidst a close-knit pack, Carrick would find himself in a torrid battle between sixth and eighth as he actually fell to eighth on lap 24.

A late restart saw the Lincoln driver move back into sixth before a late battle with Dylan Bloomfield saw Carrick fall back to seventh where he ultimately went on to finish.

“Starting mid-pack against a deep field like that is always tough,” Carrick said. “Everyone is so equal, and it is really tough to mount a charge and make up any ground. I have to do a better job of putting us in a good position, because I know my guys are going to have the car dialed in.”

Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, Hanson Truss, Eddie’s Lincoln Auto Body, Simpson Strong-Tie, A&A Concrete Supply, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts: 5, Wins: 1, Top 5’s: 3, Top 10’s: 4

ON TAP: Tanner Carrick gets right back to action this Saturday night as he will battle both the SCCT and KWS/NARC at the Stockton Dirt Track.
