PETERSEN MEDIA: Tanner Carrick and the Carrick Motorsports team had a strong showing at the Silver Dollar Fair Race in Chico, CA over the weekend as the Lincoln, CA driver ran fifth during his qualifying night on Friday and backed it up with a fourth place finish in Saturday’s finale.

“We had really good speed all weekend, but with how the track was in each feature we were too far back and it was tough to get moving forward,” Tanner Carrick said.

Friday night, Carrick was up for his qualifying night and got the night kicked off by timing the CVC/Cemex/California Waterfowl backed No. 83T sixth quickest in qualifying time trials.

Lining up in the third row of his heat race, Carrick put on a show as he dazzled on lookers and charged forward. On the slick surface, Carrick was able to battle his way to the lead and eventually score the win as he locked into the feature event and rolled off the starting grid from the sixth starting position.

When the feature went green, Carrick was up battling in the top-five, but after a few laps the track started to take patches of rubber and passing became extremely tough.

Settling into fifth, Carrick was able to hold the spot over the duration of the race and though it wasn’t enough to lock him into Saturday’s feature, it put him in a great spot to battle for a Dash berth.

Once Saturday’s action rolled around, Carrick found himself on the front row of his heat, with winners joining the four lock in cars in the Dash.

Getting the jump and racing to the win, Carrick was locked into the Far Race finale as well as the Dash where the eight pill lined him up eighth in the Dash.

Ending up with an eighth-place finish in the Dash, Carrick rolled off the starting grid from the outside of the fourth row for the 30-lap finale on a surface that was again super slick.

Just as it was on Friday night, the opening stanzas were racy and it allowed Carrick to make up ground in the early goings.

Running solidly in the Top-10 all race long, Carrick spent much of the race in sixth, until he moved into fourth on the 22nd lap. Setting into fourth, Carrick was able to cap the weekend off with another top-five effort.

“Definitely not upset with two really good finishes, and the fact that we moved forward every time we hit the track,” Carrick said. “These guys keep giving me a great car, and we will keep plugging away and turning these into wins soon.”

Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, California Waterfowl, Interstate Oil, D.R. Horton, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Hanson Truss, TC Guide Service, Eddie’s Lincoln Auto Body, Simpson Strong-Tie, A&A Concrete Supply, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts: 25, Wins: 1, Top 5’s: 10, Top 10’s: 15
