Tanner Carrick Podiums with NARC and Sprint Car Challenge Tour at Asparagus Cup

PETERSEN MEDIA: Running double duty at the 2024 Asparagus Cup on Saturday night, Tanner Carrick showed out as he picked up third place finishes with both the Sprint Car Challenge Tour and the North Auto Racing Club.

“We had a really fast car in both divisions,” Tanner Carrick said. “Unfortunately I made a mistake in the 360ci feature that cost us some valuable track position late, and we were able to make some good headway and survive some chaos in the 410ci feature.”

Kicking the night off in 360ci action with the Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour, Carrick timed his CVC/Cemex/California Waterfowl backed No. 83T mount in second fastest in his qualifying group.

Lining up in the second row of his heat race, the Lincoln, CA driver did a nice job of maneuvering on the tight confines of the reconfigured Stockton Dirt Track as his second-place finish locked him into the Dash.

Pulling the five in the Dash, Carrick was able to make a couple swift moves in the six-lap shootout as he worked his way to a second-place finish and earned the right to start on the front row of the 30-lap feature event.

As the race came to life, Carrick settled into third as he chased after Justin and Sanders on the opening lap. As drivers worked to figure out the new layout, Carrick continued to run third as Dylan Bloomfield took advantage of cars getting out of shape and Carrick being forced to briefly check-up.

Still running in third, Carrick built his momentum back up and reclaimed the second position on the 19th lap. Chasing after Justin Sanders in the closing laps, Carrick would make a misstep on the 28th lap, and it allowed Shane Golobic to overtake him for the runner up position as he held on to the final spot on the podium.

In NARC 410ci action, Carrick was equally as strong as he timed in fifth fastest in qualifying time trials before his third-place finish in heat race action locked him into the feature event.

After a grueling 30-lap 360ci feature, Carrick hopped into his 410ci powered car and rolled off the starting grid from 12th. After the 360ci feature was on the lengthy side, the 410 feature dealt with the same fate with numerous stoppages plaguing the race’s flow.

Running mid-pack, Carrick was able to stay out of a couple multi car tangles in front of him and was able to race into third late in the feature event. One final red flag on the 28th lap did lead officials to calling the race at that time as Carrick was credited with a third place finish.

“Thanks to my guys for working so hard,” Carrick said. “Running two cars is never easy, and doing it on essentially a track we have never been to adds another element to it all. Happy to come away in one piece and with two podiums.”

Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, California Waterfowl, Interstate Oil, D.R. Horton, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Hanson Truss, TC Guide Service, Eddie’s Lincoln Auto Body, Simpson Strong-Tie, A&A Concrete Supply, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts: 8, Wins: 2, Top 5’s: 5, Top 10’s: 8
