PETERSEN MEDIA: Kicking the 410ci portion of his schedule off over the weekend in Chico, CA during the Mini Gold Cup, Tanner Carrick ran well as he pocketed a pair of sixth place finishes.
“It was nice to get the 410ci out and get to work with that package,” Tanner Carrick said. “We plan on being a little more 410ci heavy this year, so to have two good finishes is a good start, for sure.”
Friday night opened the 2024 season up at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, CA and Carrick flexed his muscle early as he timed in third fastest in his qualifying group before putting together a very dominant heat race win.
Qualifying for the nightly redraw, Carrick pulled the four and took the green flag from the second row on a very hooked up a rough racing surface after heavy rains fell at the track earlier in the week.
Running fifth for much of the race, Carrick held on as the rough surface tossed much of the field around lap after lap, but everyone did a great job of keeping their cars pointed in the right direction as the first 27 laps went nonstop until the red flag flew on a pair of occasions.
The two restarts were not kind to the Lincoln, CA driver as he lost a spot on the race’s final lap and closed Friday night out with a sixth-place finish aboard the California Waterfowl/TC Guide Service/CVC backed entry.
Saturday night, Carrick and company reassembled at Silver Dollar Speedway for the conclusion of the Mini Gold Cup, but it also served as the opening round of NARC action in the 2024 season.
Timing in eighth fastest in his qualifying flight, Carrick lined up in the second row for his heat race. Finishing fourth, he was locked into the 40-lap finale as he rolled off the starting grid from the 17th starting spot.
Nearly the first half of the race was event free, and Carrick was able to pick up a few positions as he was 13th by the 15thlap.
Once the race hit the 15 lap marker, the flow of the race took a turn as cautions and stoppages were the name of the game. While Carrick was able to keep his nose clean he was also able to slowly work his way even further forward on the tricky conditions.
Withstanding and avoiding the chaos, Carrick capped his night off with another sixth place finish.
“It got a little wild on Saturday night, and luckily we were able to void the trouble,” Carrick said. “Thanks to my team for their hard work all weekend long, and giving me a fast car each time we rolled out onto the track.”
Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, California Waterfowl, Interstate Oil, D.R. Horton, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Hanson Truss, TC Guide Service, Eddie’s Lincoln Auto Body, Simpson Strong-Tie, A&A Concrete Supply, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support.
