PETERSEN MEDIA: After a week off, Tanner Carrick and the Carrick Motorsports team were back in action over the weekend in Chico, CA where he scored a 10th place finish on Friday night before running 6th in Saturday’s Fall Nationals finale.
“Friday night we were pretty good, and I think we showed that after going to work area and then coming back out and still running in the Top-10,” Tanner Carrick said.
Friday night the weekend doubleheader kicked off with Carrick timing the CVC/Cemex/CA Waterfowl backed No. 83T in third quickest in qualifying time trials.
Lining up on the front row of his heat race, Carrick battled hard with Nick Parker as the duo both looked for a spot in the Trophy Dash. Settling into second after a couple of circuits, Carrick held on to finish in the runner-up spot which put him in the fifth row of the opening night feature event.
Running in ninth as the race came to life, Carrick moved into eighth on the 11th lap before he was caught up in a tangle on the 12th lap and took a trip to the work area.
Able to restart the race, Carrick was back in 20th and didn’t have a ton of time to make up ground.
Doing what he could from the back of the pack, Carrick worked into 18th on lap 18 and then was into 17th on the 22nd lap.
Moving into 14th with five laps left in the race, Carrick was up into 12th on the 27th before moving back into the Top-10 on lap 29. Holding 10th for the final lap, Carrick capped off a solid rebound by going from 20th to 10th in 14 laps.
Back at the track on Saturday night, Carrick again got off to a strong start as he timed in third quickest in his flight for the second consecutive night. Again, on the front row of his heat race the Lincoln, CA driver was able to get the jump on this night.
Picking up the win, Carrick was locked into the Dash where his seventh-place finish put him in the fourth row of the 35-lap finale.
Getting into fifth when the race came to life, Carrick was in the fifth position when the red flag flew on the seventh lap for a medical emergency.
When the race finally resumed after an extended stoppage, Carrick was able to take over fourth, as the battle from second-fifth got extremely exciting.
Getting into third briefly at the halfway point, Carrick was back to fifth on the next lap.
Slipping back as far as seventh amidst tight knit action around the Silver Dollar Speedway Carrick was able to work back into sixth on the 28th lap and went on to close his night out there.
“We had a good car all weekend, and happy to get a couple of decent finishes,” Carrick said. “It was a fun weekend, and I am thankful for everyone that helped us out all weekend long.”
Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, California Waterfowl, Interstate Oil, D.R. Horton, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Hanson Truss, TC Guide Service, Eddie’s Lincoln Auto Body, Simpson Strong-Tie, A&A Concrete Supply, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support.
