PETERSEN MEDIA: Kicking the 2026 NARC season off at Merced Speedway on Saturday night, Tanner Carrick rebounded from early struggles in qualifying to tally an eighth-place finish in the feature event.

“Aside from a little mistake in qualifying that set us back, I was pretty happy with how the first race of the year went,” Tanner Carrick said.

Heading to Merced Speedway on Saturday night for the 2026 NARC season opening event, Tanner Carrick didn’t get his night started how he had hoped as he timed the CVC/Cemex/CA Waterfowl backed No. 83T entry in 16th fastest in qualifying time trials.

Lining up sixth in his heat race, the Lincoln, CA driver raced well as he worked his way to a fifth place finish in heat race action which placed him in the 12th starting position for the 30-lap feature event.

Mired in traffic for the first half of the race, Carrick was able to keep his nose clean as the race started to go off the rails as it reached the halfway point. Taking advantage of some of the wild action, Carrick moved into 11th on the 15th lap after jumped into ninth follow a lap 16 open red flag.

Battling between ninth and 10th for a handful of laps, Carrick settled into ninth on the 21st lap before taking over eighth on the 23rd stanza. Once in eighth, Carrick was able to hold the position as he capped the night off with an eighth-place finish.

“Starting fairly deep in heat races in features in these races is tough,” Carrick said. “It is important to time in well, and I have to make sure I do a better job of that movind forward this year.”

Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, California Waterfowl, Interstate Oil, D.R. Horton, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Hanson Truss, TC Guide Service, Eddie’s Lincoln Auto Body, Simpson Strong-Tie, A&A Concrete Supply, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support.
