Tanner Carrick Fourth with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour at Petaluma Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA: Putting together another strong run with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour, Tanner Carrick’s fourth place finish kept in right in the thick of the series Championship battle as he closed the gap up and now sits six points back of the top spot.

“It was another pretty good night for us with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour after getting second last week,” Tanner Carrick said. “I felt pretty good early in the night in qualifying but we ended up third quick, and then second in the heat so we had a little work to do in the feature.”

Timing the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed entry in third fastest in his qualifying group, Carrick would find himself on the front row of his heat race. Needing to win to earn a spot in the High Sierra Industries Dash, Carrick would jump out to the early lead.

Working the high side of the speedway, the low groove would start to come in during the course of his race, and it would result in Carrick slipping back to a second place finish.

Though he would not transfer into the Dash, Carrick would still have a solid starting position as he rolled off the starting grid from the eighth spot.

When the race went green, it would turn into a nearly a non-stop affair as the first 33 laps would click off with no stoppages. From his eighth starting position, the Lincoln, CA driver would find himself holding down the seventh position as the front of the field found themselves in thick traffic for much of the 33-lap run.

Getting into sixth just before the yellow flew, Carrick would take advantage of the restart and work his way into fourth. Chasing after Sean Becker and Ryan Robinson in the closing laps as they battled for position ahead of him, Carrick would get to their rear bumpers but would settle for fourth on this night.

“The feature nearly went non-stop, and it was a little heavy and kind of tough to pass,” Carrick said. “We had a good car, and we got what we could and used that restart to get a few positons and end up with another top-five. Thanks to Clark, Lucas, and all of the guys that help us out.”

Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts: 29, Wins: 2, Top 5’s: 15, Top 10’s: 21

ON TAP: Carrick is slated to return to action at Placerville Speedway on Saturday night.
