Tanner Carrick Fourth at Summer Nationals

PETERSEN MEDIA: Friday night at Silver Dollar Speedway, Tanner Carrick would run very well during the Summer Nationals as he came away with a fourth-place finish.

“We were in the hunt up front for a while, but I got stuck on the top too long and we lost a couple of positions as the bottom was really fast,” Tanner Carrick said.

A total of 61 cars made their way to Silver Dollar Speedway on Friday night, the Lincoln, CA driver timed the CVC/Interstate Oil/Hanson Truss backed no. 83T car in fastest during qualifying group two.

Lining up on the pole of his heat race, Carrick jumped on the loud pedal and beat the field into turns one and two. Showing the way from flag to flag, Carrick picked up the win and earned a berth into the feature event as well as into the redraw.

Pulling the eight pill, Carrick would have his work cut out for himself against a very stout field of cars as he lined up in the four row. Getting off to a very quick start, the Lincoln, CA driver wasted no time moving forward as he worked into second on the race’s sixth lap.

Once in second, Carrick continued to pound the cushion as he chased after Andy Forsberg who had acquired the early race lead. Continuing to work the top, Carrick would soon feel pressure from Shane Golobic who ran in third but looked to overtake the second position.

As the bottom seemed to be the preferred grove, Carrick would get hung out on the cushion as Golobic got by on the 20thlap to drop him back to third, and Corey Day followed suit to shuffle Carrick back to fourth.

Making the move to the low groove, Carrick would hang on to fourth when the 30-lapper came to a close.

“I made the mistake of getting caught up on the top too long, but we had a really good car,” Carrick added. “My pill draws have been really bad all year long, so if we can have some luck on that front, I know we can contend for more wins.”

Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, Hanson Truss, Eddie’s Lincoln Auto Body, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts: 26, Wins: 4, Top 5’s: 13, Top 10’s: 18

ON TAP: Tanner Carrick will return to action on Saturday night in Placerville, CA for the Dave Bradway Jr Memorial.
