PETERSEN MEDIA: Picking up his first career winged 360ci sprint car feature event win at Silver Dollar Speedway’s 2018 regular season finale last fall, it was only fitting that Tanner Carrick picked up his second career feature event win during the track’s 2019 regular season opener on Friday night.
“I really felt like we ironed some things out during the Asparagus Cup, and it looks to be the case as we were able to grab the win on Friday,” Tanner Carrick said. “It was a great night, and I am thankful to everyone involved who makes this all possible.”
Finally getting a chance to get some Friday night racing in at Silver Dollar Speedway with Mother Nature not playing nice early in the Spring, Carrick checked in and promptly timed the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil baked No. 83T entry in seventh quickest in qualifying time trials.
Racing his way to a heat race win, Carrick would take advantage of the new format in play at ‘The Dollar’, as he then put the Conti, Harris, and Sloan/Emerald/Timberworks Construction backed machine on the pole of the 30-lap feature event.
Out front, Carrick would look strong as he has on so many occasions early in 2019. Under siege from Tony Gualda early in the race, Carrick would go to school as Gualda showed him the bottom, and would soon drop down into the moisture.
Able to keep Gualda at bay, Carrick would then feel pressure from Shane Golobic, the same driver he battled for that first win a few months back. Not rattled, Carrick would keep the field at bay as he collected his first feature event win of the season.
Making the trip to Placerville Speedway on Saturday night, Carrick would look to be getting his night off to a great start as he turned in the second fastest lap in time trials on his first of two laps, only to see his engine expire on the next lap and bring his night to an end.
“It was a bummer to hurt an engine on Saturday night and cut out weekend short because I think we had another fast racecar,” Carrick added. “Again, really want to thank everyone who works so hard to make this team able to compete like we do.”
Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, Arai, and Spike Chassis for their support.
2019 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts: 8, Wins: 1, Top 5’s: 1, Top 10’s: 1
ON TAP: Carrick will now reunited with the Keith Kunz Motorsports team for a trio of POWRi events this weekend. Friday night he will be in Belleville, IL, Saturday night in Pevely, MO, and Sunday night in Jacksonville, IL.
