PETERSEN MEDIA: Tanner Carrick made his first 410ci start of the season on Saturday night at the Stockton Dirt Track. Getting off to a quick start, a couple late hindered the Lincoln, CA driver as he slipped back and recorded an eighth place finish when all was said and done.
“We had great speed for the first night out with the 410ci, but restarts didn’t go our way and we fell back from a pretty good starting position,” Tanner Carrick said. “We were a little better than an eighth place car but we will take the Top-10 and look towards Las Vegas, NV this week.”
Getting his night kicked off very well, Carrick timed the CVC/Cemex/CA Waterfowl backed No. 83T entry in fourth fastest in qualifying time trials. Lining up on the front row of his heat race, Carrick hooked up in a very entertaining battle with Sean Becker for the heat race win.
Using a late move, Carrick was able to drive around Becker and record the win which put him in the all-important Trophy Dash. Lining up third in the Dash, Carrick’s third place finish put him in the second row for the 30-lapper on a very racy Stockton Dirt Track surface.
Slipping back to sixth on the race’s first restart, a couple more restarts saw Carrick fall back to 10th before the action got into a long green-flag run.
Getting back up to eighth amidst some torrid action racing through traffic, Carrick moved into seventh on a restart with just six-laps left in the feature event. Just as a restart helped, a restart on the 27th lap saw him give a spot up as he slipped back to eighth where he went on to finish.
“Just kind of got shuffled around on a few restarts and slipped back,’ Carrick added. “We will try again this week in ‘Vegas.”
