Tanner Carrick 8th During Sprint Car Challenge Tour Finale

PETERSEN MEDIA: Saturday night in Stockton, CA, Tanner Carrick capped off the 2021 Sprint Car Challenge Tour season by earning an eighth-place finish. With the finish, Carrick ended up sixth in the final season standings despite missing the previous round at Petaluma Speedway.

“We had a ton of speed on Saturday night, I just made a couple mistakes that cost us a better starting position in the feature,” Tanner Carrick said. “With the way the track was, you definitely wanted to start up front for a chance to win, but happy overall with how the night went and how our SCCT season went.”

24 cars made their way to the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds for the series’ final event of the season, and on this night the Lincoln, CA driver got the night kicked off by timing the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed machine in third fastest in his group.

Lining up on the front row of his heat race, Carrick would essentially need to grab the win to garner a berth into the High Sierra Industries Dash. Using the bottom groove on the Stockton Dirt Track, Carrick would make one subtle mistake which sent him back to second.

Finishing second, Carrick would just miss out on the Dash, and would end up lining up ninth in the feature event.

On the slick Stockton Dirt Track surface, Carrick would methodically work his way forward as passing would prove to be tough in this race. Carving his way forward, Carrick would get all the way up to the top-five, but as he maneuvered through traffic and another bobble would cost him a couple of positions.

When the Ed Entz checkered flag flew, Carrick would close out the 2021 SCCT season with an eighth-place finish.

“Thanks to the guys for another solid night, and another really good car,” Tanner Carrick said. “With the winged season basically coming to an end, I am really excited to get back in a midget for a few weeks.”

Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts: 59, Wins: 7, Top 5’s: 26, Top 10’s: 35

ON TAP: Carrick will turn his attention to USAC National Midget action as he will reunite with Keith Kunz starting this weekend in San Tan Valley, AZ.
