Tanner Carrick 7th at Silver Dollar Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA: Returning to action in California over the weekend, Tanner Carrick recorded a seventh-place finish at Silver Dollar Speedway on Friday night before a part in Saturday’s feature resulted in a DNF.

“We just have had some bad luck the last couple of weeks that we really need to shake,” Tanner Carrick said. “We have a fast racecar, but some things are just out of your control.”

Kicking the week off at the Brownell/Herseth Memorial on Friday night, Carrick timed the CVC/Cemex/CA Waterfowl backed No. 83T entry in third quickest in qualifying time trials.

Lining up in the second row of his heat race, Carrick’s third place finish moved him into the Dash where a third place finish there lined him up in the second row of the feature event.

A wild start to the feature, saw the field eventually start the race single file after a couple of stoppages prior to completing one lap. Once underway, Carrick jumped ito a second but a misstep saw him get out of shape and slip all the way back to 11th.

Once he regrouped, the Lincoln, CA pilot worked into ninth by the seventh lap and settled in as we worked around the tricky surface. Getting into eighth at the halfway point of the feature event, Carrick continued to battle and worked into seventh with just a few laps left in the feature event.

Hanging on to seventh, Carrick took the checkered flag with a Top-10 and turned his attention to Saturday’s David Tarter Memorial.

With 30 cars on hand for Saturday’s program, Carrick by timing in 11th quickest in his qualifying flight before a fourth place finish in his heat race locked him directly into the 35-lap feature event.

Taking the green flag from the 15th starting position, Carrick’s feature event was ultimately cut short. Getting off to a good start Carrick was able to make up ground early as he worked around the slick racing surface. Taking advantage of a couple of early cautions, Carrick was up into the Top-10 when an open red flag was needed on the 15th lap.

Continuing to run in 10th, Carrick worked his way into ninth on the 22nd lap, and just as he did, issues arose on the left front corner of his car, and his night came to an end 12-laps before the finish.

“Unfortuantely the studs ripped off the left front brake caliper during Saturday’s feature,” Tanner Carrick said. “I felt good all night, but that is just some of the bad luck we have been dealing with.

Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, California Waterfowl, Interstate Oil, D.R. Horton, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Hanson Truss, TC Guide Service, Eddie’s Lincoln Auto Body, Simpson Strong-Tie, A&A Concrete Supply, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts: 34, Wins: 4, Top 5’s: 17, Top 10’s: 22

ON TAP: Carrick will drop the 360ci powerplant in this week as he heads to Placerville Speedway on Thursday night.
