PETERSEN MEDIA: A big weekend in Northern California saw Tanner Carrick and company check in at Placerville Speedway for the annual Bradway weekend memorial. Two nights of action saw Carrick cap his weekend off with a 6thplace finish in Saturday’s 40-lap feature event.
“It really was a pretty good weekend for our team,” Tanner Carrick said. “We had speed both nights, and if it wasn’t for getting spun late in Friday’s feature we would have had two really good finishes.”
Running Saturday night with NARC, Carrick got the night underway by timing the CVC/Cemex/CA Waterfowl backed No. 83T in fourth quickest in his qualifying flight before going on to dominate his heat race and win going away.
Locking into the Dash by way of that heat win, Carrick pulled the seven pill, and went on to improve his feature event starting spot by one row as he finished sixth.
With high temps blanketing the area over the weekend, the surface was extremely slick once the 40-lap feature event took center stage. Slipping back to eighth when the race came to life, and extended green flag saw the first 13 laps click off issue free.
The first restart saw Carrick climb to seventh as he patiently worked the thick curb that build up over the course of the night. With the middle stages of the race settling back into a good rhythm, Carrick worked into sixth where he settled in and went on to close out his weekend.
Friday night kicked the weekend off as the race was ran with the SCCT 360ci series as the Inaugural Davy Thomas Memorial. Getting off to a strong start to his weekend, the Lincoln, CA native timed in sixth fastest in his qualifying flight and also won his heat race to lock into the High Sierra Industries pole shuffle.
Finishing third in the Shuffle, Carrick rolled off the grid from the second row for the 35-lapper.
Jumping into second when the feature event came to life, Carrick set his sights on Andy Forsberg who led the way out front. Getting caught in a tough spot on a mid-race restart, Carrick slipped back to fourth briefly before working his way back into third.
Battling hard on the slick surface, Carrick was back in fifth as the laps clicked off and he chased after Shane Golobic and Justin Sanders who ran just ahead of him.
With just two laps remaining in the race, contact in turns one and two set Carrick’s entry into a spin cycle and he brought his night to an end as he was officially scored 17th.
“We were in both Dashes, we were in the mix in both features, so really I can’t complain,” Carrick said. “It was a hot weekend, and my guys worked extremely hard and I’m very appreciative for their efforts.”
Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, California Waterfowl, Interstate Oil, D.R. Horton, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Hanson Truss, TC Guide Service, Eddie’s Lincoln Auto Body, Simpson Strong-Tie, A&A Concrete Supply, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support.
