PETERSEN MEDIA: Doing double-duty on Saturday night in Stockton, CA at the Tribute to Gary Patterson, Tanner Carrick picked up a sixth-place finish with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour and 10th place finish with the KWS/NARC Series during both series’ final feature events of 2023.
“With it being the lone race at the Stockton Dirt Track all year, it was heavy and rough and it turned into a survival kind of night,” Tanner Carrick said.
In 360ci action with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour, Carrick timed the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed No. 83T in fastest in his qualifying group and that placed him in the second row of his heat race.
Finishing fourth in his heat, Carrick’s qualifying effort moved him into the six-lap High Sierra Industries Dash where a third place finish put him in the second row of the 30-lap SCCT feature event.
Slipping back to fifth when the race came to green, Carrick got in line as he worked around the heavy and rough racing surface. Bouncing through some rough patches as he made his way through traffic, Carrick fell all the way back to eighth at the race’s halfway point.
Getting into seventh on the 18th lap, Carrick took over sixth on a lap 25 restart, where he went on to finish and close out the SCCT season.
Also taking part in the KWS/NARC season finale event, Carrick opened the night up in 410ci action by timing in eighth fastest in qualifying time trials, before his fourth-place finish in heat race action put him in the sixth row for the feature.
Enduring a very slow start to the race that drew seral caution flags, Carrick settled into 10th when things got into a rhythm.
Passing was at a premium in the KWS finale after a pre-feature track grooming session and Carrick made quick laps around the facility.
When the Ed Entz flag was displayed to the field, Carrick capped 410ci action in 2023 with a 10th place finish.
“It was nice to get both cars out there and have a busy night, but it was too fast to do much on, and when it is like that you just hope you can get through the night in one piece,” Carrick added. “Thanks to my guys for all their hard work all night.”
Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Hanson Truss, Eddie’s Lincoln Auto Body, Simpson Strong-Tie, A&A Concrete Supply, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support.
BY THE NUMBERS: Starts: 49, Wins: 3, Top 5’s: 19, Top 10’s: 28
