PETERSEN MEDIA: Another busy weekend for Lincoln, CA driver Tanner Carrick saw him compete in two NARC events, as well as a 360ci race in Tulare, CA on Saturday night where his Kings of Thunder podium highlighted the festivities.
“We got behind in qualifying on Friday night, and on Saturday night we had good speed in both cars I just had power steering issues hinder us in the 410ci feature,” Tanner Carrick said.
Checking into Ocean Speedway for NARC action on Friday night, the Lincoln, CA driver timed his CVC/Cemex/California Waterfowl backed No. 83T entry in 10th fastest in time trials which put him in the third row of his heat race.
Needing to race score the win for a berth into the all-important Dash, Carrick ended up finishing in the fourth position which placed him in the fifth row of the 30-lap feature event.
Taking the green from 10th, the ultra slick racing surface was good in the opening laps, but soon got extremely narrow with the top side of the track being the preferred groove for much of the field.
Mired in traffic, Carrick ended up with a 12th place finish when the field was shown the checkered flag as his team then turned their attention to a busy night in Tulare, CA.
Taking part in both the NARC event as well as the Kings of Thunder 360ci event, Carrick got the night off to a strong start as he timed the 410ci in ninth quickest in time trials and was second quickest in 360ci time trials.
Lining up in the second row of his 360ci heat race, Carrick had a very strong entry as he worked his way to a second place finish which led to him starting in the third row for the 25-lap feature event.
Gridding the field form the first row in his 410ci heat, Carrick again needed to get the jump in hopes of making the Dash, however he settled for a second place finish which lined him up ninth on the starting grid.
When the 360ci feature came to life, Carrick continued to have a strong showing as he was up front and battling amidst the lead pack of cars.
Battling hard in the top-five for the duration of the race, Carrick made a pair of late moves that saw allowed him to grab the final spot on the podium as he finished third in the feature event.
As the opening 20-lap NARC feature came to life, Carrick slipped back to 12th in the early goings as the track stayed narrow in the early laps. Finding his way into the Top-10 just at the halfway point of the race, Carrick started to endure steering issues that cost him a few spots. As the issues worsened, he ended up 19th, and opted not to compete in the second feature.
“My guys continue to work hard, and for whatever reason we have just had horrible luck in 410ci races this year,” Carrick added. “Looking forward to racing close to home this weekend up in Chico, CA at the Silver Dollar Fair.”
Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, California Waterfowl, Interstate Oil, D.R. Horton, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Hanson Truss, TC Guide Service, Eddie’s Lincoln Auto Body, Simpson Strong-Tie, A&A Concrete Supply, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support.
