PETERSEN MEDIA: Tanner Carrick had a busy weekend in Placerville, CA as he ran winged and non winged races both Friday and Saturday night. Finishing third in Friday’s non winged feature, the winged feature, and Saturday night were tough on the Lincoln, CA driver.
“It was a pretty rough weekend overall,” Tanner Carrick said. “Friday night I spun out in the winged heat and had to come from the ‘B’, and then leading the non winged feature I got out of shape in traffic and did all but flip. Saturday we were just off in the in the winged car, and in the non-winged car we were in second when the leader broke and I took a pretty big ride down the back stretch.”
In non winged action on Friday night, Carrick timed the CVC/Cemex/California Waterfowl backed No. 83T in fastest in his qualifying flight before racing to a second place finish in his heat race.
Lining up on the pole of the feature event, Carrick got off to a great start as he led early and was setting a very strong pace out front on the slick Placerville Speedway surface.
While running strong out front, Carrick got on the binders hard while in traffic to avoid hitting a slower car, and as he did he did everything but get his car upside down as he slipped back to second.
Back in second, Carrick chased after Braden Chiaramonte as he also had his hands full with a surging Ryan Bernal. The closing laps saw Bernal sneak by, as Carrick went on to finish third in the feature event, before running 14th in the winged feature event.
Saturday night again saw Carrick in action in both classes, and he again timed the non wing car in very well as he ended up fastest in his qualifying flight before finishing third in his heat race.
Lining up in the second row of the feature event, Carrick quickly moved into second as he began chasing after Braden Chiaramonte as the roles were reversed from the previous night.
Hounding Chiaramonte despite numerous stoppages, Carrick was able to keep pace when the green flag was out.
On the 12th lap, Chiaramonte enduring a part failure in front of the field, and with nowhere to go Carrick made contact and flipped wildly down the back stretch which ended his night.

In Saturday night winged action, the Lincoln, CA driver timed in sixth fastest in time trials, and recorded an eighth place finish in the feature right after his wild non wing wreck.
“It was good to have speed in the non winged car, just a bummer to tear it up like we did,” Carrick said. “Thankful to my guys for working hard all weekend.”
Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, California Waterfowl, Interstate Oil, D.R. Horton, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Hanson Truss, TC Guide Service, Eddie’s Lincoln Auto Body, Simpson Strong-Tie, A&A Concrete Supply, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support.
