Traveling to Placerville Speedway on Saturday night aboard the Tanner Carrick Racing No. 83T machine, Tanner Carrick would record a season best fifth place finish in winged 360ci action.
“It felt great to have a good night up at Placerville Speedway,” Tanner Carrick said. “That place can be tricky but Clark Riolo and everyone gave me a great car and worked very hard for me.”
With 17 cars on hand on an extremely warm Saturday night, Carrick got things underway by timing the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed entry in seventh fastest in qualifying time trials.
Lining up on the front row of his heat race, the Lincoln, CA youngster would jump on the fun button when the green flag was displayed to the field and left the field in his wake. Picking up the heat race win, Carrick would earn a berth in the redraw where the four placed him in the second row for the 25-lap finale.
Running inside the Top-Five the first eight laps, Carrick would fall back to sixth on the race’s ninth circuit as he a very racy Placerville Speedway surface was served up to the field on this night. Jumping back into fifth just past the race’s halfway point, Carrick would turn in his fastest lap of the race with 10-laps to go as he took over the fourth position following a late restart.
Battling for fourth with Ryan Bernal during the closing stages of the race, Carrick’s fifth place finish would mark a season best in sprint car action in 2018.
Friday night saw Carrick in action with the King of the West 410ci series as they invaded Ocean Speedway, a venue that Carrick has ran well at in limited appearances at thus far.
Getting into an early hole during group qualifications, Carrick would work his way forward in heat race action where his fourth place finish moved him directly into the 30-lap Pombo/Sargent Classic feature event.
In a hard fought, grueling feature event, the Lincoln, CA would close his Friday night out with an 18th place finish.
“Overall it was nice to get back into the sprint car for a weekend,” Carrick said. “With a ton of midget racing going on the last couple of weeks it was a fun change of pace. With that said I have a busy stretch coming this week that will see both midget and sprint car racing, so I am really looking forward to that.”
Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, Arai, and Spike Chassis for their support.
