Carrick Scores Sixth Place Finish with SCCT

Tanner Carrick would have a pretty good weekend in his Taner Carrick Racing No. 83T winged 360 in his native California. Leading laps on Friday some issues would keep him from a strong finish, but Saturday night the Lincoln, CA driver would finish sixth with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour in Petaluma, CA.

“It was a good weekend and it felt good to bet back in the Sprint Car,” Tanner Carrick said. ‘I made a mistake on Friday and let my guys down, but Saturday I was able to redeem myself a bit.”

Taking on the Sprint Car Challenge Tour Saturday night in Petaluma, CA, Carrick would time the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed No. 83T machine in third quickest in his qualifying group which would place him on the front row of his heat race.

Needing to win to earn a berth in the Dash, the 2017 USAC National Midget Series Rookie of the Year would fend of Shane Golobic to do just that and he would move into the Dash where he would line up in the third row.

Carrick would have a great Dash that saw him work his way forward and tally a second place finish which would put him on the front row for the second night in a row as he would start alongside Willie Croft.

When the feature event came to life, Carrick would find himself in a dogfight with the likes of Croft, Tim Kaeding, and Justyn Cox, as he would fall back to fourth as Shane Golobic looked to overtake him.

An early restart would be brutal on Carrick as he would slick back to ninth when the Green was again displayed to the field. Able to keep grinding, Carrick would work his way back up to seventh at the race’s halfway point, and would get up to sixth with 10-laps to go.

Racing in traffic, Carrick would again fall back to eighth but making some great decisions late he would fight forward and take the checkered flag with a sixth place finish.

Also in action on Friday night in Watsonville, CA at Ocean Speedway, Carrick would open his night up on a great note as he timed the Conti, Harris, and Sloan/Emerald/Timberworks Construction entry in second fastest in qualifying time trials.

Finishing third in his heat race, Carrick would move into the Dash where a second place finish put him on the front row of the 30-lap feature event alongside Tommy Tarlton.

At the drop of the green flag, Carrick was hard on the throttle and would jump out to lead the first lap before the red flag was needed.

Continuing to lead the way when the race came back to life, Carrick would admittedly make a mistake a lose the handle on his machine on the fifth lap and relinquish the top spot.

Going to the tail of the field, Carrick would come a stop four laps later and his night would come to an end.

“We were fast both nights, and that is a huge testament to Clark Riolo, and everyone who lends a hand,” Carrick said. “Fun weekend, and thank you to all of our supporters.”

Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, Arai, and Spike Chassis for their support.
