Tanner Carrick Tops the Action at Jacksonville Speedway

The only thing that seemed to slow Tanner Carrick down on Saturday night at Jacksonville Speedway was a brief shower prior to the feature event. Turning in a very strong performance, Carrick wired the field and scored his first Lucas Oil POWRi National Midget League win of the year.

“It was just an awesome night for our Keith Kunz Motorsports team,” Tanner Carrick said. “We were so fast all night long, and it’s just cool to get a win at Jacksonville Speedway.”

Starting on the pole of the feature event after earning high point honors following his charge from fifth to first in his heat, Carrick and the rest of the field were forced to wait out a rain cell that drenched the area prior to the feature event.

Once the rain cleared and the track worked back in, Carrick would lead the field to green alongside Zach Daum. Jumping out to the early lead over Daum, Carrick was very strong in the Walker Performance Filtration/Craftsman/CVC backed No. 71k entry.

On the hammer down, lightning fast surface, Carrick would build up a sizeable lead only to see his teammate, Rico Abreu reel him in over the race’s final 10 circuits. While Abreu was able to eliminate his lead and make things interesting for the fans in the final laps, Carrick was having none of it as he kept him at bay and cruised the feature event victory.

While Saturday highlighted the weekend for Carrick, he was also at Jacksonville Speedway on Friday night where he would charge from 16th and pick up a ninth place finish.

“The entire weekend was pretty good,” Carrick said. “We made some good headway in the feature on Friday night, and put ourselves in a great position on Saturday to get the job done. Thanks to everyone on this team for working so hard and sticking with me.”

Tanner Carrick and the Keith Kunz Motorsports team would like to thank Craftsman, CVC, TRD, Spike Chassis, Cemex, Arai, and Shell Shock for their support.
