PETERSEN MEDIA: Putting the disappointment of not getting out of the BC39 ‘B’ on Thursday night, Tanner Carrick put together a very good weekend in Illinois that saw him charge from 12th to finish second on Friday and a third place run on Saturday.”
“It was a really good weekend for the team, a lot of fun,” Tanner Carrick said. “We had a fast car and we were in the hunt both nights.”
After finishing fifth in his heat race, Carrick would move into the feature event where he found himself back in the 12th starting position. On a racy Jacksonville Speedway surface, Carrick thrilled the crowd as he was able to make some great moves through traffic.
Picking off cars at will, Carrick would march into the Top-5, as he looked for more. Carving his way through some tough competitors, the Lincoln, CA driver capped a great drive as he earned a second place finish.
Looking to continue to his momentum into Saturday night, the scene shifted to Spoon River Speedway in Canton, IL. By way of his heat race win from the fourth starting spot, Carrick put his KKM entry on the pole of the 30-lap feature event.
Slipping back to second briefly, Carrick would get his machine ripping on the cushion as he jumped into the race lead and brought KKM teammate, Logan Seavey into second as the duo would begin to wage war on each other.
As Carrick fought back and forth with Seavey, Tyler Thomas actually got by both of them and Carrick found himself in second when the caution flag put a pin in the excitement.
With Seavey able to sneak by on the restart, Carrick would hold down the third spot where he would go on to finish and close out his weekend.
“Really a fun couple of nights of racing,” Carrick said. “Thanks to everyone that makes all of this possible, and to the guys who give us fast cars.”
