Tanner Carrick Gets USAC Season Kicked off at Bubba Raceway Park

Tanner Carrick spent his weekend in Ocala, FL getting his third season with the NOS Energy Drink USAC National Midget Series kicked off. Carrick would have a nice start to the season as he picked up finishes of sixth and 11th place respectively.

“It felt great to get to a new track and get the USAC season started,” Tanner Carrick said. “I have another great KKM team behind me this year and am looking forward to another year with USAC.”

After a successful practice night on Thursday, Carrick and the Craftsman/CVC/TRD team would get after it during the season opener on Friday night as he would time in fourth quickest in time trials to open his season up.

Working his way forward in heat race action, Carrick would pick up a fourth place finish and punch his ticket directly into the 30-lap feature event where he would roll off the starting grid from the third position.

In a fast paced feature event, Carrick would hold his own against some stiff competition in the likes of Tyler Courtney, Kevin Thomas, Jr, and Chris Windom. Running a very strong race, Carrick would accept the checkered flag with a sixth place finish.

Returning to Bubba Raceway Park on Saturday night to cap the opening weekend, Carrick would time in 17th fastest on this night with 25 drivers checked into the pit area.

Capitalizing on a prime heat race starting position, Carrick would sail away from the field to pick up the win and make his way into the second USAC NOS Energy Drink feature event of the season.

With his work cut out for himself, Carrick would take the green flag from the 16th starting position. On a racy surface, Carrick would have his elbows up as he worked his way towards the Top-10.

Battling with Tyler Thomas and Chris Windom during the course of the 30-lapper, Carrick would close his opening weekend out with an 11th place finish.

“I have to thank Keith, Pete, and everyone associated with the team for all of their hard work,” Carrick said. “It is shaping up to be another great season.”

Tanner Carrick and the Keith Kunz Motorsports team would like to thank Craftsman, CVC, TRD, Spike Chassis, Cemex, Arai, and Shell Shock for their support.
