PETERSEN MEDIA: Getting back to work with the USAC NOS Energy Drink National Midget Series on Friday night in Granite City, IL, Tanner Carrick would pick up a 13th place finish before rain cancelled Saturday night’s program.

“We had a fast car, I just put us behind early in the night by not getting us a good time in qualifications,” Tanner Carrick said. “If I can get us timed in and up front, I think we will be right in the hunt.”

Kicking Friday night off, Carrick timed the Craftsman/CVC/Spike backed No. 71K entry in 10th quickest amongst the 26 drivers that checked in for the night of action.

Racing to a fifth place finish in his heat race, the Lincoln, CA driver would punch his ticket directly into the feature event where he would roll off the starting grid from the 10th starting spot.

From the 10th starting position, Carrick would start to work his way forward until a flat tire on the fourth flat forced him to bring his machine to a stop and bring out the caution.

With repairs made to his KKM mount, Carrick would restart from the tail end of the field as he now really had his work cut out for himself. Working around the racy facility, Carrick would scratch and claw his way back towards the Top-10.

When the fast paced feature came to a close, Carrick would cap his night with a 13th place finish.

“I give it to the guys that work on these cars, night in and night out we are extremely fast,” Carrick said. “Hopefully we can get some good weather and get into a rhythm and really get going here in the late spring and summer months.”

Tanner Carrick and the Keith Kunz Motorsports team would like to thank Craftsman, CVC, TRD, Spike Chassis, Cemex, Arai, and Shell Shock for their support.
