PETERSEN MEDIA: Returning to Winged 410ci action on Saturday night in Stockton, CA, Tanner Carrick’s night would be cut short as he had steering issues arise and hamper him in the feature event.
“It was kind of an up and down night for us,” Tanner Carrick said. “We kind of missed our car for time trials, then we were pretty good in our heat, and in the main we had a steering issue plague us.”
23 cars checked in at the Stockton Dirt Track on Saturday night to kick off the 2021 King of the West Series campaign. As he alluded to, a tough qualifying effort would see Carrick time the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed No. 83T entry in 19th fastest in qualifying time trials.
Lining up at the rear of the field in heat race competition, the Lincoln, CA driver would get as high as fifth at one point but would end up with a sixth-place finish on a very slick surface.
Moving into the feature event, Carrick would line up 18th on the starting grid on a surface that was reworked and manicured prior to feature event action coming to life.
When the race went green, Carrick would slowly begin working his way forward as he was able to take over the 15th position by the race’s fifth lap.
Running in 15th, Carrick would slowly start the develop a steering issue that started give him fits, though he continued to make do form the seat of his entry.
A double file restart on the 12th lap would really magnify Carrick’s issues as he would slip back to 20th where he raced for the next few laps before the issues worsened and forced him to retire from the event.
“Hopefully this got all of our problems out of the way as he we head into a big weekend of racing,” Carrick said. “Thanks to my guys for all of their continued hard work.”
Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support.
