PETERSEN MEDIA: Returning to the seat of the Petry Motorsports Midget over the weekend in Indiana, Tanner Carrick would finish 10th on Friday night at Gas City I-69 Speedway before a 13th place finish at Kokomo on Saturday night.
“We had really good Speed on Friday night,” Tanner Carrick said. “It was tough to pass, we got caught up in an early wreck and salvaged the night with a Top-10.”
Kicking the weekend off at Gas City I-69 Speedway on Friday night, Carrick would time the FK Rod Ends/K1 Race Gear/Arai backed No. 35 machine in fifth quickest in qualifying time trials.
Heat race action saw the Lincoln, CA driver finish in the fifth position, which forced him into the night’s “B” Main.
Transferring out of the semi, Carrick would take the green flag from the 13th starting position. When the race came to life, Carrick would get to work early, but he would get collected in a wreck and be forced to the tail end of the field.
From the 22nd position, Carrick had his elbows up as he worked all over the speedway as he raced towards the Top-10. Able to rally from the tail, Carrick would salvage the night with a 10th place finish despite the early incident he was involved in.
Traveling to Kokomo Speedway on Saturday night for the second leg of USAC’s Double-Double weekend, Carrick would get off to a bit of a rough start as he timed in 15th fastest in time trials.
Moving into his heat race, Carrick’s fifth place finish would again force him into the semi, though his third place finish that event would move him into the feature event.
Lining up 17th in the feature, Carrick struggled to get going as he could never quite crack the Top-10. On the famed Indiana bullring, Carrick would try everything in his arsenal, but would end up with a 13th place finish when the checkered flag was displayed to the field.
“Saturday night we just struggled to get going all night long,” Carrick said. “It was a tough go in the feature, but I do have to thank everyone at Petry Motorsports for all of their hard work all weekend long.”
Tanner Carrick at Petry Motorsports would like to thank Arai, K1 Race Gear, Mobil1, FK Rod Ends, Keizer Wheels, ZMax, DR Horton, Toyota TRD, CVC, Cemex, BK Titanium, Interstate Oil Company, Emerald, and Harris & Sloan for their support.
