Carrick Kicks Off 2020 with Petry Motorsports Off at Chili Bowl

PETERSEN MEDIA: Jumping to Petry Motorsports for the 2020 Midget season, Tanner Carrick made his debut with his new team over the last week during the 34th Annual Chili Bowl Midget Nationals.

“I was really pleased with the speed our car had, and how things felt in our first couple of outings together during the Chili Bowl,” Tanner Carrick said. “Unfortunately, we had a mechanical issue during our preliminary night and it really buried us on Saturday.”

Hitting the speedway on Tuesday night for his preliminary night at the Chili Bowl, Carrick would line the Arai/K1/ZMax backed No. 35 machine up in the second row of his heat race.

With the passing point format being utilized each position would be important in preliminary action. Advancing from third to second in his heat, the Lincoln, CA driver would make his way into a qualifier.

Snagging a third place finish in his qualifier, Carrick would just miss the cut to transfer directly into the feature event and would find himself in one of the twin ‘B-Main’ events where he would line up on the pole.

Looking to snag a transfer into the Tuesday night feature, a mechanical issue would arise during the race and it would bring his night to an early end. With the DNF, Carrick would be bound to a ‘J’ Main on Saturday afternoon.

Lining up third in his first main, Carrick showcased a very strong Petry Motorsports entry as he quickly powered his way to the point. Picking up the win, Carrick’s day was off and running as he moved into the ‘I’ Main.

Gridding the field from the fifth row of this race, Carrick continued to fight his way forward. Continuing to get more and more comfortable in the new ride a third-place finish propelled him into the ‘H’ Main.

Taking the green flag from the 13th starting position, this would prove to be the last race Carrick would run at the 2020 Chili Bowl. As the race got underway, Carrick would endure contact in turn one and it would be too much to repair with no guaranteed time in the work area.

“Big thanks to everyone involved with Petry Motorsports for their hard work at the Chili Bowl,” Carrick said. “I am really excited for the year ahead with these guys and can’t wait to get back after it in Florida.”

Tanner Carrick at Petry Motorsports would like to thank Arai, K1 Race Gear, Mobil1, FK Rod Ends, Keizer Wheels, ZMax, DR Horton, Toyota TRD, CVC, Cemex, BK Titanium, Interstate Oil Company, Emerald, and Harris & Sloan for their support.
