Carrick Garners Top-10 During Opening Weekend of USAC NOS Energy Drink Midget Action

PETERSEN MEDIA: Getting the 2020 USAC NOS Energy Drink Midget season stared at Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, FL last weekend, Tanner Carrick would show a ton of speed in his Petry Motorsports as his weekend would be highlighted by a 10th place finish.

“Our results don’t really show how fast, and how good our car was all weekend,” Tanner Carrick said. “Friday night a flat tire forced us to the work area, and on Saturday night I bounced off the infield berm in traffic and also had to go to the tail.”

Kicking his first season with Petry Motorsports off on Friday night, Carrick would time the Arai/K1 Race Gear/Mobil1 backed No. 35 machine in seventh fastest in time trials.

Running second in his heat race to teammate, Kevin Thomas, Jr, Carrick would grid the field from the fourth row to start the 30-lap opening night feature event.

Flexing his muscle in the opening laps, Carrick would look very strong as he worked around the unique confines of Bubba Raceway Park. Enduring a flat tire, the Lincoln, CA driver would be forced to give up his track position and make repairs on his mount.

Tagging the field from the back of the pack, Carrick would get all he could in the closing laps as he would battle back up to an 11th place finish and just miss out on a Top-10.

Back for more racing action on Saturday night, Carrick would get off to an even better start as he would lay down a great lap in time trials and find himself fourth on the speed chart.

Finishing fourth in his heat race on this night, Carrick advanced into the feature event where he would find himself in the second row to take the green flag.

Battling for a Top-Five position, Carrick would find himself in lapped traffic early in this race as the leaders quickly reached the back of the pack.

On the 11th circuit, Carrick would clip the infield berm as he tried to sneak underneath a slower car and it would shoot him up the race track and he would stall out and bring out the caution.

Again, going to the tail end of the field, Carrick showed that his Petry Motorsports entry had plenty of speed as the youngster sliced and diced his way through the field to close his weekend out with a 10th place finish.

“Big thanks to all the Petry Motorsports guys for bringing some awesome cars out to Florida,” Carrick added. “I am looking forward to really getting into the swing of things this season”

Tanner Carrick at Petry Motorsports would like to thank Arai, K1 Race Gear, Mobil1, FK Rod Ends, Keizer Wheels, ZMax, DR Horton, Toyota TRD, CVC, Cemex, BK Titanium, Interstate Oil Company, Emerald, and Harris & Sloan for their support.
