PETERSEN MEDIA: Taking part in his first Indiana Midget Week with Petry Motorsports, Tanner Carrick would wind up sixth in the final standings despite suffering a mechanical failure at the start of Sunday night’s finale.
“I was really happy with our week and felt like we got better and better each night,” Tanner Carrick said. “We were all kind of bummed to have a part failure at the start of the feature on Sunday, but that was really the only blemish of the week.”
Kicking the grueling week off in Paragon, IN, Carrick would get off to a nice start as he picked up a sixth-place finish in the Arai/K1Race Gear/Mobil1 backed No. 35 mount.
Heading to Gas City I-69 Speedway, Carrick would time in sixth fastest which lined him up in the second row of the feature. Losing a few spots in the ‘A’, Carrick would keep his entry in the Top-10 as he took his ninth-place finish and readied himself for two nights at Lincoln Park Speedway, a track that traditionally has not been nice to him.
Timing in 16th fastest the first night t LPS, Carrick would run third in his heat race. Lining up 17th in the feature, the Lincoln, CA driver picked up a 13th place finish in the ‘A” and would look to improve during the return visit.
Friday night saw the Lincoln, CA driver get off to a better start as he timed in eighth fastest in time trials before working his way to a second-place finish in his heat.
Lining up ninth in the ‘A’, Carrick would do a great job of working his way forward as he picked up a very strong finish as he took the checkered flag in fifth, setting himself up for the final two nights of the week.
Getting Saturday night at Lawrenceburg Speedway opened up by timing in 16th in time trials, the former series Rookie of the Year finished third in his heat race before another impressive charge in the feature culminated with a 10th place finish.
One of the most anticipated stops of the week comes during the finale as the series invades the vastly popular Kokomo Speedway on Sunday night.
Timing in 10th fastest in time trials, Carrick would flex some muscle in heat race action as he used a last lap pass to score the win.
Moving into the feature, a part failure as the green flag dropped knocked him out of competition, and he would find himself sixth in the final point standings.
“It is a hard week for everyone, and I have to thank the Petry Motorsports guys for all of their hard work,” Carrick added. “Also a big thanks to all of our partners who support our efforts.”
Tanner Carrick at Petry Motorsports would like to thank Arai, K1 Race Gear, Mobil1, FK Rod Ends, Keizer Wheels, ZMax, DR Horton, Toyota TRD, CVC, Cemex, BK Titanium, Interstate Oil Company, Emerald, and Harris & Sloan for their support.
