PETERSEN MEDIA: Getting to work with the NOS Energy Drink USAC National Midget Series on Friday and Saturday night in Kokomo, IN, Tanner Carrick would charge to a 10th place finish on Friday night, before a last lap incident knocked him out of eighth place in Saturday’s ‘A’.

“We were really fast all weekend long, and it is a bummer the way our feature ended on Saturday night,” Tanner Carrick said.

Friday night would kick off the two-day stop at Kokomo Speedway and Carrick would get started by timing the Craftsman/CVC/TRD Spike Chassis backed machine in 17th fastest in time trials.

Able to pick up a win during heat race competition, Carrick would advance to the Kokomo Grand Prix opening night feature event where he would take the green flag from the 16th starting position.

On the racy bullring, Carrick would continue to showcase the same speed he had in heat race action. Slicing his way through the star-studded field, the Lincoln, CA pilot would close the Kokomo Grand Prix out with a nice charge up to 10th.

Looking to build off Friday night during the Saturday night finale, Carrick opened the night up by timing in ninth fastest in qualifying time trials. Running second in heat race action to Jason McDougal, Carrick would find himself in the fifth row to start the 30-lap feature event.

Carrick would spend much of the night battling well inside the Top-10 on this night. Racing with the likes of teammates Tucker Klassmeyer and Logan Seavey, Carrick would find himself eighth as the race came to close.

Taking the white flag in eighth, contact in turn four coming to the checkered would result in Carrick spinning and getting on his side as he would be credited with a 21st place finish.

“It was a definite bummer to end the night like that,’ Carrick said. “Big thanks to all the KKM guys for working so hard and always putting a fast car on the track.”

Tanner Carrick and the Keith Kunz Motorsports team would like to thank Craftsman, CVC, TRD, Spike Chassis, Cemex, Arai, and Shell Shock for their support.
