Tanner Carrick Charges to Sixth at November Classic in Bakersfield, CA

Tanner Carrick looks forward to racing in his home state of California, and with the USAC National Midget Series schedule wrapping up in the Golden State this week, Carrick showed out in front of family and friends as he picked up a sixth place finish during the November Classic.

“It is fun to race these Keith Kunz Midgets in California, and I am happy with how we performed against such a stout field of cars,” Tanner Carrick said.

With a loaded field on hand Saturday night as many were cutting laps in preparations for this week’s 78th Annual Turkey Night Grand Prix, Carrick got his night started off by timing the CVC/TRD/Spike Chassis entry in 16th quickest in qualifying time trials.

In a bit of a stacked heat race, Carrick’s fifth place finish would force him into a ‘B’ Main capable of being a feature event on any given night. From the eighth starting position, the Lincoln, CA pilot sliced and diced his way around the Bakersfield Speedway as he would notch a second place finish and move into the 30-lap feature event.

Taking the green flag from the 13th starting position, Carrick would be extremely patient in the early stages of the race as the surface would throw some competitors off as cautions slowed the early flow.

Once the race settled in, Carrick came alive. Just as he did in the semi, Carrick was able to search around the Bakersfield Speedway and find some grip as he worked his way through the Top-10.

Battling with Chad Boat and KKM teammate, Spencer Bayston late in the race, Carrick would cap the start of a busy week off with a sixth place finish.

“It is a busy week for our team, and it is nice to get things kicked off with a good finish,” Carrick said. “Thanks to all of my guys for all of their hard work and putting so many fast KKM entries on the track. Looking forward to running Ventura this week during Turkey Night.”

Tanner Carrick and the Keith Kunz Motorsports team would like to thank CVC, TRD, Spike Chassis, Cemex, Arai, and Shell Shock for their support.
