Carrick Thrills Crowd During Second Place Run at Jacksonville Speedway

Since the Summer months, Tanner Carrick has been in a groove no matter what he straps into. This past weekend, Carrick and his Keith Kunz Motorsports team were in action for three nights of action, and Carrick highlighted his triple-header weekend with a thrilling second place finish on Friday night at Jacksonville Speedway.

“It was a great weekend for the team,” Tanner Carrick said. “Friday night was a ton of fun. We were really fast and we were right there fighting for a win.”

Gridding the field from fifth aboard his CVC/TRD/Spike Chassis entry for heat race action, Carrick was able to pick up a couple of positions to finish third at the stripe placing him in the third row for the feature event.

On a rough and tumble track that required drivers to get their elbows up, Carrick proved to be up to the challenge as he quickly worked his way forward and engaged in battle with KKM teammate, Logan Seavey.

As Seavey and Carrick raced through the field, Carrick would get the advantage as he overtook the second position and began reeling in race leader, Tyler Thomas. With three to go, Carrick would dive inside on Thomas and actually take over the race lead, but a red flag would be needed and it would negate Carrick’s pass.

Restarting behind Thomas, Carrick would give the leader all he could handle but would take the checkered flag with a second place finish.

Traveling to Southern Illinois Raceway on Saturday night, Carrick would start and finish third in his heat race which would then place him 12th on the starting grid for the feature event.

Continuing to showcase a great Keith Kunz prepared entry, Carrick would be a rocket ship from the middle of the pack in the ‘A’. Carving his way forward in what was a fast paced feature, Carrick would capture another Top-10 finish as he capped his night with a sixth place result.

Sunday night would bring a busy weekend to a head as the Lincoln, CA product checked in at Wayne City Speedway in Wayne County, IL for the Jason Leffler Memorial where he got his night underway by finishing third in his heat race.

Moving into qualifiers, Carrick would finish fourth which would be good enough to transfer him into the feature event where he would line up in the 15th starting position.

From the back of the pack, Carrick would endure some damage to his steering over the course of the 40-lap feature event and it would make for a long race. Sticking it out in hopes of picking up some positions, Carrick would ultimate take the checkered flag with a 17th place finish.

“It was kind of a bummer to end our weekend like we did, but overall it was a lot of fun and I had a great car,” Carrick said. “Thanks to everyone at Keith Kunz Motorsports for all of their hard work.”

Tanner Carrick and the Keith Kunz Motorsports team would like to thank CVC, TRD, Spike Chassis, Cemex, Arai, and Shell Shock for their support.
