Indiana Midget Weeks Blends to Illinois Midget Week for Tanner Carrick

>> Amidst one of the busiest stretches of his 2018 season, Tanner Carrick hopes to improve off his Indiana Midget Week showing last week as he now heads to Illinois for Midget Week with the POWRi Series.

“This is a daunting part of our season, but there is no team I would rather be doing with,” Tanner Carrick said. “These guys work incredibly hard and I am hoping I can build off of an up and down Indiana Midget Week, and put together a great Illinois Midget Week.”

What was scheduled to be six races in six nights turned into four races in six nights with Mother Nature having her say in the action. Indiana Midget Week got off to a tough start for the Lincoln, CA driver as he would get involved in an early incident at Montpelier Speedway, though he would work his way forward from the back to finish 16th.

Wednesday night would be rained out making Thursday’s visit to Lincoln Park Speedway in Putnamville, IN the second round of the grueling week. Timing the CVC/TRD/Spike Chassis entry in 22nd fastest in time trials, Carrick would finish sixth in his heat race and be forced into the semi.

Finishing fifth in the ‘B’, the 2017 USAC National Midget Series Rookie of the Year would move into the feature event where he would line up in the 20th starting position. With a racy KKM entry underneath him, Carrick would do a great job of working his way forward against some of the sports best. When the checkered flag flew on the race, Carrick would end his night in the 12th spot.

Back in action on Saturday night at Lawrenceburg Speedway after another rain out, Carrick would put together a very strong night. Timing the Cemex backed machine in fourth quickest in time trials, Carrick would finish fourth in his heat race and move into the 30-lap feature event.

A very racy Lawrenceburg Speedway led to an extremely entertaining feature event that saw Carrick battle it out up front all night long. Taking the green flag from the second row, Carrick would find himself battling with the likes of Tyler Courtney, Chad Boat, Tanner Thorson, and Brady Bacon at times.

With cars going every direction on the speedway on this night, Carrick would put together his best night of the week as he finished fifth.

Sunday night brought the conclusion of Indiana Midget Week to the famed Kokomo Speedway. Timing in 14th quickest in time trials amongst the 29 drivers checked in for the finale, Carrick would have a great heat race that saw him finish second to Justin Grant.

Lining up 12th in the feature event, Carrick would have some tough luck that saw his night end on the eighth lap as he would be credited with a 22nd place finish.

“It is great to get a ton of races in, and I am fortunate that we have another big week ahead,” Carrick noted. “Looking forward to some POWRi racing this week, and hopefully we can this car back up front for these guys.”

Tanner Carrick and the Keith Kunz Motorsports team would like to thank CVC, TRD, Spike Chassis, Cemex, Arai, and Shell Shock for their support.
