>> In action on a pair of occasions over the weekend with his Keith Kunz Motorsports team, Tanner Carrick would pick up a pair of ninth place finishes in Illinois.
“It was a decent weekend,” Tanner Carrick said. “Friday night we had to run the semi to get in the show, and Saturday we were able to transfer directly out of our heat. The tracks were both tough to make up ground on so it was good to get a couple of Top-10’s.”
Carrick’s weekend opened up on Friday night in Jacksonville, IL where he would line the CVC/TRD/Spike Chassis No. 71K up in the second row of his heat race. Finishing fourth in the heat, the Lincoln, CA driver would not earn enough points for the feature and would be forced into the semi.
Lining up on the front row of the ‘B’, Carrick would handle his business as he would jump out to the early lead and never look back as he would earn the win and make his way into the feature event.
Mired deep in the field after coming out of the ‘B’, the 2017 USAC National Midget Series Rookie of the Year would find himself 17th on the starting grid. With the track tough to make moves on, Carrick would do a great job of creating opportunity as he battled hard towards the Top-10.
In the final laps, Carrick would pick up a couple of positions as he worked his way up to a ninth place finish.
Regrouping overnight, Carrick and company returned to action on Saturday night in Macon, IL for more Lucas Oil POWRi Midget Series action.
Having a better draw on this night, Carrick would line up on the front row of his heat race where he would take advantage of the prime starting position and race his way to the heat race win and move directly into the feature event.
Taking the green flag from the 11th starting position, the Illinois dirt would again prove to be tricky has passing would be a feat as well on this night. Battling around the Top-10 all race long, Carrick would take the checkered flag in the ninth position for the second consecutive night.
“My Keith Kunz Motorsports guys always work hard to give me a great car,” Carrick said. “It wasn’t the best weekend for me, but we rallied, we raced hard and we were able to move forward and finish with two Top-10’s. A big thanks to all these guys.”
Tanner Carrick and the Keith Kunz Motorsports team would like to thank CVC, TRD, Spike Chassis, Cemex, Arai, and Shell Shock for their support.
2018 BY THE NUMBERS- Starts-10, Wins-1, Top 5’s-1, Top 10’s-5
