Tanner Carrick Has Strong Showing at Pennsylvania Midget Week

Traveling to Pennsylvania for four nights of action to kick of the week, Tanner Carrick would perform extremely well as he recorded four top-10 finishes including one top five.

“It was a pretty good week in Pennsylvania,” Tanner Carrick said. “We raced really well, and had some nice runs.”

Kicking the four night swing off at Susquehanna Speedway, Carrick would open his night up by timing the TRD/Curb Records/IPC backed NO. 71K in 17th quickest in qualifying time trials before recording a fifth place finish in his heat race.

Moving into the 30-lap feature event, the Lincoln, CA youngster would have his work cut out for him as he took the green flag from the 14th starting position. Not letting the starting position deter him, Carrick was very strong during the 30-lap contest. Putting his Keith Kunz prepared midget wherever he needed to, Carrick would earn hard charger honors as he raced his way to a fifth place finish.

Moving on to Path Valley Speedway Park, Carrick would improve his qualifying effort on this night by timing the IPC/Walker Performance Filtration/Cemex machine in 11th fastest in time trials. Picking up a fourth place finish in his heat race, the Rookie of the Year contender would line up in the 10th starting position.

Racing inside the Top-10 all night long in the feature event, Carrick would again have another strong showing in the Keystone state by way of a seventh place finish.

A third night of racing in-a-row saw Carrick and company sign in at Lanco’s Clyde Clyde Martin Memorial Speedway, where a tough start would see Carrick time in 14th fastest in time trials, before racing his way to a second place finish in heat race action.

Lining up in the seventh row of the feature event, Carrick would again show off his ability to race his way to the front. In the 40-lap ‘A’, Carrick would do just as he had the first two nights and that was carve his way through the field. Continuing to battle with some of the sports top midget talent, Carrick would capture his third consecutive Top-10 finish by way of an eighth place effort.

With a night off before the final race in PA, the Keith Kunz Motorsports team would close the week out at Linda’s Speedway in Jonestown, PA. Timing in eighth fastest, Carrick would pick up the heat race win, and just miss out on the feature event inversion.

Passing would prove to be tough on this night, but Carrick would stay strong inside the Top-10. When the 30-lapper came to a close, Carrick would take the checkered flag in the ninth spot, giving him four consecutive Top-10 finishes during PA Midget Week.

“I think we could have had even better results if I could have timed in a little stronger,” Carrick added. “Big thanks to Keith Kunz, Pete Willoughby, and everyone that helps this team out. I am excited for Calistoga Speedway.”

After four nights of Midget racing, Carrick would make it back home to get in some winged sprint car races over the weekend.

Friday night, Carrick and company checked in at Silver Dollar Speedway and took part in the Tyler Wolf Memorial. Timing in 16th quickest in qualifications, Carrick would pick up a fifth place finish in his heat race.

Moving into the feature event, Carrick would grid the field from the 13th starting spot on a nicely prepared racing surface. Able to make up some ground, Carrick would keep the Top-10 theme going as he worked his way forward and finished 10th.

Traveling to Placerville Speedway on Saturday night for the Mark Forni Classic, Carrick would sign into the pits with 41 other drivers and time the CVC/Cemex No. 83T machine in 27th quickest.

In a bit of a hole, Carrick would finish seventh in his heat race and be forced into the 12-lap ‘B’ Main event. Turning in some nice laps in the semi, Carrick would actually fall back to 17th at one point in the race. Getting comfortable on the slick surface, he would get going late in the race as he rebounded to finish 11th, which would bring his night to an end.

Tanner Carrick and the Keith Kunz Motorsports team would like to thank TRD, Curb Records, IPC, Walker Performance Filtration, Cemex, CVC, and Shell Shock for their support.

ON TAP: Tanner Carrick and the Keith Kunz Motorsports team will return to action in Carricks’ native California on September 2nd and 3rd at Calistoga Speedway for the Louie Vermeil Classic. With an open weekend from his KKM commitments, Carrick will be back aboard his winged 360 Friday August 25 at Placerville Speedway and Saturday August 26 at Stockton Dirt Track.
