Carrick Eighth In First Belleville Midget Nationals

Reuniting with the Keith Kunz Motorsports team after a couple weeks racing back home in California, Tanner Carrick continued his rookie campaign with the USAC National Midget Series by picking up an eighth place finish during his first Belleville Midget Nationals.

“Belleville was a cool place for sure,” Carrick said. “It is a way different style of racing, but fortunately I was there with a team that did everything to help me acclimate.”

Friday night the famed Belleville Midget Nationals kicked off and Carrick would open his weekend up by timing the TRD/Curb Records/Walker Performance Filtration backed No. 71k midget in 10thquickest in time trials.

Picking up a third place finish in his heat race, Carrick would move into the feature event where he lined up in the fifth row for the 25-lap feature event on the big ½ mile speedway.

A surface that maintained moisture saw the surface stay relatively narrow for the early goings of the race, and Carrick would settle into the 11th spot as he battled with Jerry Coons, Jr. and Terry Goodwin.

25-laps clicked off in a hurry, and Carrick would end the night in 11th and set his sights on Saturday night’s finale.

Running second in his heat race to teammate, Spencer Bayston, the Lincoln, CA pilot would move into the Pole Dash where a sixth place finish lined him up in the third row for the 40th running of the Belleville Midget Nationals.

A slick and wide surface would be presented to the field on this night, and Carrick would adapt as he ran the high, scary side of the speedway right along the Belleville Highbanks rail.

Turning in smooth laps while battling with some of the sports top drivers, Carrick would come away with an eighth place finish when the checkered was shown to the field.

Carrick and company were also in action earlier in the week competing in Nebraska and Beloit, KS.

Tuesday night, Carrick would open the action at Jefferson County Speedway up by timing in 12thquickest in time trials before racing to a third place finish in his heat race. Moving into the 40-lap feature, Carrick would kick the busy week off with a 13th place finish during the Tuesday night Thunder event.

Wednesday night the scene shifted to Solomon Valley Raceway, where Carrick would get off to a quick start as he timed in eighth quickest in Pro Source qualifying.

Running fourth in his heat race, Carrick would go onto to record an eighth place finish during the 30-lap Chad McDaniel Memorial feature event.

“I really have to thank this entire Keith Kunz Motorsports team for everything they do for me,” Carrick added. “They work extremely hard, and it definitely pays off.”

Tanner Carrick and the Keith Kunz Motorsports team would like to thank TRD, Curb Records, IPC, Walker Performance Filtration, Cemex, CVC, and Shell Shock for their support.

ON TAP: Tanner Carrick and the Keith Kunz Motorsports team will now head East for a four race tour in Pennsylvania that kicks off Sunday night at Susquehana Speedway. Monday night the series travels to Path Valley Speedway Park, Tuesday night they take to Lanco’s Clyde Martin Memorial Speedway, before the Thursday night finale at Linda’s Speedway.
