Tanner Carrick Scores Two Sixth Place Finishes with POWRi Series

PETERSEN MEDIA: Tanner Carrick and the Keith Kunz Motorsports team took in another weekend of Lucas Oil POWRi action, and Carrick would again race well as he pocketed two sixth place finishes.

“It was another pretty good weekend,” Carrick said. “With POWRi being draw shows you have to be on your game all night long, and Pete and Keith have been doing a great job of getting me more and more comfortable in these cars.”

Friday night in Jacksonville, IL the Lincoln, CA product lined the TRD/Curb Records/IPC backed entry up in the fourth row of his heat race after a tough draw. Putting together a strong heat race, Carrick would work his way up to finish in the fourth spot and earn enough points to move into the feature event.

On a very racy Jacksonville Speedway, Carrick would line his potent KKM entry up in the fifth row for the 30-lapper. When the field was shown the green flag, Carrick was able to move his way forward as he would find himself battling for position inside the Top-Five.

Battling with the likes of Tucker Klassmeyer in an action packed feature event, Carrick’s KKM teammate, Ryan Robinson, would join the fray during the race’s closing laps. Battling with midget veterans Klassmeyer and Robinson, Carrick would hold his own as he took the checkered flag in the sixth spot.

Saturday night the scene shifted to Macon, IL as Carrick took to the Macon Speedway.

Having some luck in the draw on this night, Carrick would line the Cemex/CVC/Shell Shock backed machine up in the second row for heat race action. Getting a great jump when the race got underway, Carrick would get up to the second spot in the opening lap but a slight bobble would cause him to half spin and he would fall back to sixth.

Getting himself gathered back up, Carrick would get back up to the fourth spot and transfer directly to the feature.

Gridding the field from the 16th starting spot, Carrick would again look sporty in the feature event. Battling again with teammate, Ryan Robinson, at times, Carrick would flex his muscle as he worked through a tough field.

Battling with Colten Cottle and Logan Seavey in the closing laps, Carrick would get up to the sixth spot when the race came to a close.

“Moving forward like we did the last two nights is a good thing, and helps my confidence,” Carrick added. “I really owe it all to these guys who work on these cars for putting me in a good position every night.”

Tanner Carrick and the Keith Kunz Motorsports team would like to thank TRD, Curb Records, IPC, Cemex, CVC, and Shell Shock for their support.

ON TAP: Tanner Carrick and the KKM team will be Granite City, IL on Friday night with USAC before heading to Brownstown, IL on Saturday night for more POWRi action.
